This series explores the violin as art itself: conversations with a leading dealer, master luthier, and celebrated performer reveal its extraordinary value, craftsmanship, and enduring place at the center of classical music.
The violin is one of the most recognized instruments in the world, but how much do we know about it? Aaron Boyd, one of America’s most distinguished violinists, will share the extraordinary story of how the instrument came to be the musical powerhouse it is today, tracing its history through the makers, performers, and golden age figures who defined it. A graduate of the Juilliard School and recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, Boyd brings a performer’s insight and a scholar’s depth to a story that is as rich and expressive as the music itself.
This series is presented in conjunction with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Violin Festival of concerts February 17, 21 and 24 at the Royal Poinciana Chapel.
