Beaton, Burnand, and the British Crown: A Century of Royal Photography with Hugo Burnand

What do Cecil Beaton and Hugo Burnand have in common – apart from both photographing coronations? Quite a lot, as it turns out. Both were Harrow schoolboys, both photographed the glamorous worlds of their era, both worked with Condé Nast, and both documented their monarch’s crowning moment. Hugo Burnand, the first official royal portrait photographer appointed by King Charles III, and the man behind the official images of two royal weddings and the first digitally recorded coronation, will explore what connects these two giants of society and royal photography across seven decades.
