“Offering a nearly supernatural turn in a role out of Greek legend,” exhilarating soprano Lise Davidsen makes her Live in HD debut singing one of her signature roles, the title heroine of Strauss’s enchanting Ariadne auf Naxos. The March 12 transmission also features an outstanding cast, including mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as the composer of the opera-within-an-opera around which the plot revolves, soprano Brenda Rae as the spirited Zerbinetta, and tenor Brandon Jovanovich as Ariadne’s lover, the god Bacchus.
