Taylor Sheridan
The John and Diane Sculley Lecture
Taylor Sheridan is an Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter and the creator, writer, director and executive producer of multiple record-breaking Paramount Network series including “Yellowstone,” “Mayor of Kingstown,” “Tulsa King,” “1923,” “1883,” and “Lioness.” Sheridan is currently in production on “Landman,” which he co-created and executive produced. The series stars Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore and is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs.
His most recent project, “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” premiered on November 5, 2023 on Paramount+ and stars David Oyelowo, who earned SAG, Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations for Best Actor. It follows Reeves (Oyelowo) and his rise from enslavement to law enforcement as the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi. Sheridan currently has numerous projects in various stages of development.
Sheridan made his debut as a writer/director with his critically acclaimed film Wind River, the conclusion to his modern frontier trilogy, in 2017, earning Best Director honors at the Cannes Film Festival. He previously wrote Hello or High Water, a drama which was nominated for four Academy Awards®, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.
Sheridan owns and operates two Texas ranches including the legendary Four Sixes (6666) Ranch and Bosque Ranch. He also recently launched Four Sixes Ranch Brand Beef, which retails premium quality beef sourced from 6666 and a network of various ranches.
John Sculley was a prominent figure in American business, best known for his decade-long tenure as Apple’s CEO. His journey from leading Pepsi, where he launched the blind taste tests against Coca-Cola for the ‘Pepsi Challenge’, to steering one of the world’s most innovative tech companies highlights a blend of visionary marketing and contentious leadership decisions that have left a lasting impact on Apple’s history. As Apple’s CEO from 1983 to 1993, Sculley oversaw significant advancements, including the launch of the Macintosh, the rise of desktop publishing, and the introduction of the first multimedia computers. Under his leadership, Apple’s revenue surged by over 1000%, and the Mac became the best-selling personal computer globally. Sculley’s expertise in areas like data science innovation and consumer brand building played a crucial role in these achievements. Diane is the Founding Vice President and designer of Wittmann Building Corporation, a high-end residential home builder and is also the founder and CEO of Sculley Speaks. John and Diane are full-time residents of Palm Beach and are active philanthropists in the community.
