Clubs

We are offering Family Book Club and Craft Club for the 2025-2026 Season. Both clubs are free of charge and require reservations. The programs are led by Children’s Librarian, Samantha Merigold.

School-Age Programs

Our School-Age Programs are designed for children in grades kindergarten and above. These programs are offered November
through April on select weekdays. This season we will have cooking with Fun Chefs (for kindergarten and above), Art 101 with
Jason Merigold (for second grade and above), and Floral Design with Vickie Denton (for kindergarten and above).

Special Family Event: All Aboard Whitehall

The Society of the Four Arts Children’s Library will join the Flagler museum for a special afternoon story time event on Saturday, December 13 at 1 p.m.
at the Flagler Museum in the Flagler Kenan Pavilion. Reservations required.

Preschool Story Times

Story time at the library is a wonderful way to capture the imagination and introduce your child to a love of reading. The Children’s Library offers free story time programs, specially designed for children. Preschool Story Time is for children 4 years of age and younger and is available most Mondays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. from October through April. All Children’s Library story times are thematic with stories, shared songs, and arts and crafts projects addressing the program’s educational theme.

Summer Story Times

Summer Story Time is for children 8 years of age and younger and is available at 10:30 a.m. on select Wednesdays in July 2025. An arts and crafts activity will follow each story time.

Craft Club

The hour program will include 3-4 thematic crafts and participants will be guided through all activities. Craft Club goals are to increase fine motor skills, creativity, patience, cultural awareness, coordination, and confidence in participants.

Special Family Event: Life and Lilly with Lilly Leas Ferreira

Join us as Lilly shares her book, Life and Lilly, in the Philip Hulitar Sculpture Garden. This Children’s Library family program will include book reading, Lilly Pulitzer inspired arts & crafts stations, and refreshments. Following the reading, attendees will have the
opportunity to visit with Lilly Leas Ferreira, as well as purchase signed copies of her book.

Family Book Club

This program is designed for independently reading school-age children (and their families).  Book Clubs further develop literacy skills and encourage not only the sharing of thoughts and opinions but respect amongst readers. 

School-Age Programs

The Children’s Library offers a monthly cooking, art and floral design classes on select weekdays for school-age children in Kindergarten and up. There is no charge to attend weekly school-age programs, but reservations are required, and space is limited.
