Meet historical figures such as Peter the Great and Captain Cook and philosophers such as Voltaire and John Locke. Study the birth of science and learn about leading figures in the arts such as composers Bach and Handel, artists including Gainsborough and Mme. Vigée-Lebrun, and the first novelists. History’s changing movements, such as those leading to the French Revolution, will underlie the sessions.
Juliette de Marcellus is a pianist, prize-winning music critic and lecturer. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music in London and with professor Leonie Gombrich at Oxford.
