Join Past Forwards co-curators Chelsea M. Herr and Janet Catherine Berlo for a lively talk about the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art, known as the Gilcrease Museum, which houses a comprehensive collection of the art, culture, and history of North America. Herr and Berlo will discuss its role as a cultural hub, the development of the exhibition, and a selection of works on display.

Past Forward is an unprecedented traveling exhibition surveying more than 3,000 years of Indigenous art from Gilcrease Museum and encompassing fine art along with archaeological and archival materials. Ranging from ancient stone carvings and nineteenth-century pottery to contemporary oil paintings and a handful of contrasting Euro-American works, the exhibition presents 76 works whose visual motifs and shared systems of knowledge connect disparate ancestries, time and space.
