Few individuals have had a greater impact on American horticulture than Dr. David Fairchild, one of the nation’s most celebrated plant explorers. Our day begins at The Kampong,
Fairchild’s historic Coconut Grove home and tropical garden, where he cultivated and tested many of the rare plants he collected during his expeditions. We then visit Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, one of the world’s premier botanical gardens. Named in Fairchild’s honor, it celebrates his legacy through spectacular collections of tropical plants, flowering trees, palms, and rare species.
