BIOGRAPHY BOOK CLUB

Each moderated small group will focus on the life of a prominent person. A suggested reading list of available books from the King Library will be distributed once registered. The book group requires attendees to read at least one of the suggested books and come ready to discuss. Please note this is a group discussion without the person of focus present.

Katharine Graham (1917-2001) was the publisher of The Washington Post who led the newspaper through some of the most pivotal moments in modern American history, including the Pentagon Papers and the Watergate scandal. Initially thrust into the role after her husband’s death, she grew into a confident and influential leader, helping to shape investigative journalism while navigating the challenges of leadership as a woman in a male-dominated field.

Moderator: Dr. Diana Barrett

Biography: Diana Barrett has had a distinguished career at the intersection of business, public health, and social impact. She spent over 20 years as a faculty member at both the Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Business School, specializing in health policy and management. Her work extended beyond academia, collaborating with the ministries of health in India, Colombia, and Mexico to develop and implement effective health strategies.

As the founder and president of The Fledgling Fund, Diana championed the power of storytelling to drive social change, supporting documentary films that bring attention to critical global issues. Her dedication to philanthropy, conservation, and public health is further reflected in her roles on the Board of the Everglades Foundation, The Society of the Four Arts, and Advisory Board of the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.

With a career dedicated to impact-driven initiatives, Diana continues to be a leader in using media, policy, and philanthropy to create meaningful change.
