In The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman, newly retired Augusta Stern moves to a senior community in Florida, where she unexpectedly encounters Irving Rivkin—the man who broke her heart 60 years ago. The story shifts between 1920s Brooklyn, where young Augusta is torn between her pharmacist father’s traditional remedies and her great-aunt’s unconventional healing methods, and the present day, as she grapples with past mistakes, lost love, and the hope of reclaiming the magic of her youth before it’s too late.
