If you would like to use The Society of the Four Arts gardens or grounds for professional portraits or any staged, formal or professional photography, you must request a permit. Requests can be made one week or more before the photo shoot.
If your request is approved by The Four Arts, a link to purchase the $100 permit will be provided at least 72 hours before. You will be issued a receipt after purchase to keep on hand to show at The Four Arts.
Please note the following are prohibited and will not be approved for a permit:
- Commercial or promotional photography, including for any editorial content or social media content creation
- Videography, including for any editorial content or social media content creation
- Wedding or engagement photography
- Wedding ceremonies or receptions
Permits have specific hours of availability:
- Permits are only available between 10 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. daily and are subject to inclement weather and the following closures:
- Tuesday closures: Both gardens are closed to photo permits on all Tuesdays in January, February, and March.
- Special closures: Both gardens will close during inclement weather and are closed on major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Easter). In addition, the Philip Hulitar Sculpture Garden may be closed due to Four Arts special events.
In addition:
- Multiple Group or Multiple Family Portrait sessions on a single permit are not permitted. Portrait sessions must be purchased by individual (or participating) families.
- Additional equipment besides cameras, such as drones, ladders, or lights, is not permitted.
- The sculptures in the Philip Hulitar Sculpture Garden, Four Arts Demonstration Garden, and on The Four Arts Campus may not be photographed due to copyright restrictions.
- Do not climb on sculptures or enter the fountain areas or any other designated garden space.
- Please do not take photos inside The Four Arts buildings.
- There are no refunds on Photo Permits.
